The Puraniya Collection

Tengura Ring

The design of this ring is derived from the Tengura necklace, which is worn by women and sometimes children in the Karnali region of far west Nepal. Traditionally, it is fashioned from pieces of animal bone wrapped in metal and attached to each other with string. The repetitive phallic pattern is believed to ward off evil forces, in particular preventing them from reaching the head.

A necklace and a bracelet are also being developed, drawing on the same motif.
